Pumpkin Day

The kids were so excited this year! It was really cute watching them anticipate all (!) day (!) long (!) getting to dress up and go "trick or candy'ing." Most of the morning was spent practicing with their pumpkin buckets (Eli's got sat on and cracked by the afternoon - Daddy was very handy with his tape) and asking dozens of times, "Is Taylor going to be here in 5 minutes or 2?" Taylor is a cute little neighbor of ours who we got to meet up with to trick or treat. :)

Eli was not so sure of his Thomas the Train costume (at first) and was determined to wear me down so I would let him be the Lion he was last year...a very HOT, very SMALL lion. Once it was actually time to get dressed, though, he was too excited to care. Whew! (I did not want to fight that battle.)

Maci was also confused as to why she wasn't going to be the fairy she was last year, especially since it was still hanging in the closet, but after she tried the tutu on, she was hooked. That poor child has no concept of time so the wait was extremely loooong.

Mika decided not to nap in the afternoon, which was (obviously) a recipe for disaster. But, I gave all the kids baths to waste some time and she decided that was just what she needed to push her toward an hour-long-early-evening snooze. Again, whew! She did great....CUTEST poodle I've ever seen. Ever. (Sidenote: the hat was a little much for her and she spent about an hour thinking [see thinking face above] about what that thing was doing on top of her head, but she only tried briefly a couple of [unsuccessful] times to take it off.)

We walked around our neighborhood for an hour and 45 minutes. Yikes! The kids were TIRED on the walk home, but they were happy...and possibly bribed with a piece of candy.

This was such a fun way to meet neighbors and enjoy my family. SO (soo, soo, soo, sooo!!) THANKFUL.
