Eli:
This cutie started VPK last month and that's a BIG deal so shame on me for not posting about it. He loves school, loves his teacher - Mrs. Bajgier, loves his friends, loves his letters, loves his homework, loves his lunches, loves his new shoes. He does not love going to school on Fridays while Maci is off because there is a chance he will miss something, and therefore, the potential for being left out of some type of inside knowledge/joke is awful. Eli is still so sweet and silly and shy and smart (we tell him hardworking so as not to set him up for future failures...something we read). His favorite show is Dinosaur Train and he loves pepperoni pizza but takes the pepperonis off because they are spicy. Also, he loves ice cream but is in the market "for a sweater for my tongue" because it's really (SPOILER ALERT) cold. Eli remains the best big brother I can imagine and is a bike riding rock star.
Maci:
This girl is in the 3-Day-Three's class and loves it! Her teacher is Mrs. Scott and Mrs Scott gets a new picture (colored by Maci) almost every day. Maci's favorite things are coloring (obsessed), dancing, catching lizards/frogs/bugs, eating anything grown on a vine, and swimming. She's loud and silly and busy and sassy and so super smart (again "hardworking"). At the age of 3, she's already asked for multiple, detailed explanations of where babies come from and how God puts them in a mommy's tummy. I'm kinda nervous-excited about being her mom because she keeps me constantly on my toes and we've just started. She has a hard time remembering her big, happy voice and is sent to go find it several times a day. Cleaning up just isn't her thing...poor girl, she can make a mess like a professional so Maci's frequently disappointed with the rule that you have to clean up one thing to go start another. Cuddle monster - especially daddy!
The Bigs are sharing a room and LOVING it. Maci doesn't nap anymore so they play "quietly" (yeah right) during Mika's nap. Mommy's alone time is 1-3. :)
Mika:
She is so, so, so fun! And 20-month-olds are HARD! Last week, she told Eli "that's cool" which sounded like "da koo" in response to his elation over finding a dinosaur he thought he'd lost. She demands to ride her bike when the Bigs ride theirs. Mika will go to her room 90% of the time to "find your happy heart" when prompted, and almost always comes out running and grinning and saying "happy heart" (sounds like "hhha art"). It's pretty much my favorite thing in the world (I have several of these). I think she takes correction pretty well for an almost-two, but she's hilarious and she knows it. She isn't physically capable of crossing her arms, but when being reprimanded, she attempts it...and then makes a pouty face while trying very hard not to make eye contact. I have to hold my breath not to laugh - sometimes it doesn't work. The girl has been healthy (well, high-fever-free) since June. Praise the Lord!!!! She is learning how to feed herself and that's a delightful, entertaining mess - until the food is eaten and someone has to clean up. Mika and I are taking Musicgarten together on Thursday mornings and her favorite song is Humpty Dumpty - it's in the van on repeat right now. I love getting to watch Mika grow into this little girl who loves her brother and sister. Maci and Eli are besties and I have wondered how a third "Big" was going to fit in but God's reminding me how sovereign and amazing He is. Mika fits!! She loves "sissy" and "E-yae"and they all play so great together (for those of you who don't have littles at home, this does not mean they always get along - just that they play nicely more often than they fight and scream and throw things). Another one of my favorite things in the world is watching them all kiss and hug before bed, mostly because it's just cute, but also because this isn't something that DJ and I have prompted - it is completely kid-driven. They really love each other (sigh. tear.).
