prayer needed

DJ and I have been having A LOT of trouble with our car lately and it looks more and more like we're being forced into buying something newer and more reliable. I was hoping that you could offer some insight or tips if you know of any great deals out there. We're trying to make a very thought-out decision and do what's best financially (is that stating the obvious?), but we're having trouble - we just want something reliable with A/C (so Maci will be allowed to ride in it).

p.s. off topic (not really): did you know that when you take your car to the mechanic to have the a/c fixed, they don't guarantee the work?!? They have to make "educated guesses" until the problem is fixed, but there is no scientific-this-will-work-button so even though you spend $2,000 and leave your car with them 3 times, if the air doesn't work, you're still responsible for all expenses incurred while trying to correct the problem!!! Geesh!!

** we've had trouble beyond the stupid a/c that won't work no matter what.

buying a new car is a seemingly impossible task. you never know if you are getting a good deal or if you are being taken.

and like your mom said - honda (and toyotas) are wonderful reliable cars - but the cost is higher up front.

dodges and fords tend to be cheaper up front but have the tendency to nickle and dime you with little things here and there.

if you want - em and i have a subscription to consumer reports online - if you want to use it - e-mail me or pm me on facebook and i'll give you our login info!

I hate shopping for cars. but now that we have the girls, it looks like we are mini van drivers for the next few years :)

eewwww....My fave is the Honda Odysee (even though I can't spell it!)....they keep their value pretty well, and you can even find used ones with bells and whistles that aren't outrageous...

thanks, everyone! dj and I went looking a little yesterday and decided that we can't afford even the CHEAPEST car on the market right now, so we're just going to try to make the protege last a little longer (and then pray for a miracle sales person). hopefully nothing will fall off this week :-)

We love our Honda and Toyota. I sent you a email with the name of a guy who can find you one at a dealer auction. We got my Minivan for almost half of the blue book value.
