Pregnant Lady Terrorizes Husband

Early Sunday, in Winter Park, a pregnant woman, who asked to remain anonymous, attempted to drive her husband to the brink of insanity. It all started when 26 weeks pregnant "Wendy" woke up feeling hot and exhausted next to her apparently relaxed and refreshed husband, "John". John, understanding the toll 3 midnight trips to the bathroom, backaches, and constant hot flashes were taking, offered to make breakfast for Wendy while she took a few minutes to untangle herself from dozens of pillows which recently became nightly cohabitants in their bed. Immediately rounding the corner to the kitchen, Wendy knew that something was not right. The turkey bacon didn't smell as heavenly as usual or make her mouth water. The sight of her smiling husband dancing between the stove and toaster did not put a sparkle in her eyes like it always did before. And the sound of her dog's tail banging against the trash can over and over in pure puppy joy and excitement didn't make Wendy laugh out loud like it has every morning for the last 4 years. According to Wendy, at this point, because she did not want to startle John or bring down his good mood, she brushed everything off as "coincidental" and made her way to the refrigerator for some juice. Breakfast proceeded as usual - Wendy successfully hid her strange mood, and John insists that he was completely unaware of any potential danger.

After breakfast, John and Wendy decided to lay down for a few more minutes before getting ready for church. Wendy admits that she still felt strangely, but thought that a few minutes of cuddling and chatting would be just what she needed to shake off the curiousness of the morning.

Things became worse only minutes later when Wendy stepped out of the shower to see 3 small red lines on her growing belly reflecting in the bathroom mirror. In pure panic and terror she called John into the bathroom to diagnose the strange markings newly visible just next to her belly button. John tried to calm and comfort Wendy, reassuring her of her beauty and worth, and promising to love and adore her no matter what scars pregnancy left. He reminded Wendy of the baby growing just beneath those marks and of how special and wonderful it was that they are to soon be parents. In just a few months, he promised, stretch marks or no stretch marks, it would all be worth it the first time she could hold her child. Rationally, Wendy knew he was right. But with hormones raging at unusually high levels, she insists she was unable to control the feelings of panic and fear that were now taking over her thoughts.

John took cover in the safety of the shower and emerged minutes later to find Wendy frantically searching through her rack of maternity clothes, mumbling frustrations over only owning cool weather articles. Wendy explains that she is normally cold natured, being a native Floridian, and is usually very comfortable with the thermostat at 80 degrees. She pleads ignorance when making her maternity clothes purchases, stating that she was not convinced hot flashes would ever be a problem for her. Wendy owns several long sleeve or 3/4 length shirts and only 2 t-shirt like tops cool enough to combat August's harsh weather. She did not think t-shirts appropriate for their church outing and knew that all of her friends must be sick of seeing her in those anyway because she was certainly sick of wearing them.

It took so long for Wendy to finally chose an outfit, that John was dressed and ready, patiently sitting on the side of the bed waiting for her to finish. Wendy admits feeling frustrated and angry at this point, but insists she was still trying to fight the hormones for some control. She asked John to get her some water and promised she'd be ready in just a minute.

Wendy was ready as promised, dressed in a long sleeve cotton top and jeans. She was hot. She was angry at being hot. And she could not stop feeling devastated over her newly acquired stretch marks. This is when the terror began.

Wendy met John in the kitchen where he handed her a bottle of water and grabbed her bible to head out the door. Wendy was momentarily shocked speechless at the room-temperature bottle she was holding, knowing there was ice-cold water in the refrigerator and that John had poured her water from the pitcher sitting on the counter. She admits that it was at this point when all sense of reality and reason left her. She became overwhelmed with her frustrations and discomforts and took that opportunity to place all blame and responsibility on John's shoulders. She wanted COLD water!

For the next hour and a half, Wendy led John through a maze of sobbing, screaming, irrationality, that she insists, can only be attributed to her unfamiliar lack of emotional control. Although John handled this strange woman with surprising patience and reason, he did not understand what was happening or why, and he most certainly did not feel it deserved. He let that be known and endured a morning of hellish behavior.

John survived, and once Wendy was able to wrestle her emotions back under control, around 1:30 that afternoon, she transformed back into the woman he married. John and Wendy are now able to laugh at last Sunday's encounter, but hope and pray that this weekend's event will not repeat itself ever again. They would like to also point out that the "stretch marks" Wendy developed have not been identified since, and are now thought to have been only temporary indentations from lying down before her shower. John is now a more active participant in Wendy's fight to prevent stretch marks and has forgiven Wendy completely for her Attempted Terrorization.

wow that story is AMAZING!
DJ-er, John! Hang in there!
Wendy..I mean Lindsey..I mean Wendy...it's not too much to ask for cold water...& forgiveness! ;)~

One day, Jake forgot something for school out in the car when I was about 8 months pregnant and experiencing many of Wendy's problems. The thought of having to not only walk out to the car but back in enraged me. When I got in the car, I turned on the AC and may have shed a tear or 100...I couldn't help it! I didn't want to walk anymore....
but I loved the part about thinking of the baby underneath the red marks...awww...what a wonderful feeling!

I got my stretch marks from soph at about 38 weeks when i sneezed while at church. I could feel them shoot like lightning across my tummy! I immediately left to go to the bathroom to survey the damage, and came back SOBBING like a baby! (the entire congregation was very impressed and a little scared!)How could I let that happen with 14 days to go!!! Hope that NEVER happens to you!

You should take a look at www.theshapeofamother.com
How did your mom fair with the stretch marks? That is a good indicator of how you will do. FYI, they are unpreventable if they are going to happen. I may not look like Heidi Klum, but my babies love their momma's soft belly and my husband could care less. Sad that society has given this unrealistic view of how women should do in pregnancy. I doubt God cares either.

dear anonymous,

thanks for your comment. my mom does not have any marks, and you're right about God not caring. you forgot to sign your name and i'm very curious about who you are :-)

hahaha! better than fiction. pregnancy emotions are definitely something else and the fury they unleash on the unsuspecting... continual need for forgiveness. It's like God planned it that way or something ;)

haha, so innocent, that Wendy, thinking crazy lady might never come back again... she will be back, when Wendy has had no sleep and a baby is screaming in the next room and her nipples are just too sore... oh, wendy, we will still love you when you are crazy again... and John will still love you, and there will be more stories to laugh about...

Ooops, sorry I didn't realize I had not left my name. Anonymous is Tiffany=) Glad to see you are enjoying this time more. In retrospect this time goes by sooo fast and before you know it you miss having that lil angel safe and quiet in your belly. Someone told me once the time goes by fast when you are not pregnant and boy were they right! Already 30 wks, wow! See you at the baby shower.
